Introduction
This section is the longest section of the Great Wall. It is also the best preserved section. It was built during the Warring States, Qin, Han, Northern Wei, Northern Qi, Jin, and Ming Dynasties.
First Pass Under Heaven
This section is northeast of Qin Huangdao. It connects northern China to northeast China. The north part of this pass lies in the Yanshan Mountains.
Jiashon
This section is three kilometers (two miles) away from the Shanhang ancient city. It is named after Jiashon Mountain. The mountain is called the first mountain of the Great Wall.
Laolongtu
This section's nickname is Old Dragon's Head. It is five kilometers (three miles) away from Shanhiaiguan Pass.
Mengjiangnu Temple
Is is near Fenghuang Mountain. The temple is made out of green and red tiles. It is six and a half kilometers (four miles) away from Shanhaiguan Pass.
Shanhaiguan Pass
This section of the Great Wall was built in 1381 during the Ming Dynasty. This section connects the Bohai Sea with the southwest Yanshan Mountains.
Xifengkou Gateway
This section was built by General Zu Da. It was built during the Ming Dynasty.
Sandaoguan
This section is eight kilometers (five miles) northeast of Shanhaiguan. It was built to defend against intrusions. This section is four hundred fifty-seven meters (five hundred yards) long.
Zhangjiakou
It is near Zhangjiakou City. It is one thousand four hundred seventy kilometers (nine hundred thirteen miles) long. Today, it is a museum.
Zijingguan Pass
This section is forty-five kilometers (twenty-eight miles) northwest of Yixan County. The Juma River is in the north. There are nine city gates in this section.
Daomaguan Pass
This section is northwest of Tang County. The translation of the name of this section is "Tumbling Horse Pass." It is one of the three inner passes.
